A native of Bogotà, Colombia holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Folkwang University of the Arts, Essen-Germany, and has appeared as guest artist in Pina Bausch’s masterpieces, Rite of Spring and Tannhäuser.

He is living and working in New York City but he is teaching and dancing as a guest all over the world.

Daniel has been a soloist member of the Limon Dance Company for ten years (2006-2016) and he is founder and artistic director of Pajarillo Pinta’o, a dance company that combines Colombian Folklore and Modern Dance, based in New York.

Daniel is currently resident choreographer and board member of ID Studio Theatre a not-for-profit organization led by Colombian actor German Jaramillo.

Grants awards include Harlem Stage Fund for New Work and NALAC (National Association for Latino Arts and Culture) Funds for the Arts. Fetecua has also choreographed the award winning productions of Teatro SEA ,”Sueño” and “La Gloria: A Latin Cabaret”. For “La Gloria: A Latin Cabaret” he’s recipient of a HOLA award for Best Choreography.

  • awareness of articulations; breath as a way of unblocking tension points
  • the connection to the earth through the plie
  • body alignment and the sensing of the body’s perpendicularity
  • the use of the falling of bones through space
  •  the use of a pliant plie to help recover and rebound from such falls
  • the coordination of arms, legs, head, torso
  • dynamics
  • floor work
  • spirals
  • working of the feet in order have a better connection to the ground
  • intensity of movement
  • fluidity of transitions from movement to movement
  • the power of the gesture
  • economy of movement in transitioning from one foot to another
